Satish K. Gupta

Shri Satish K. Gupta, is a Distinguished Research Fellow (Standardization and Carbon Accreditation) at IISD, who is also an IIT Delhi Alumni, a Civil Engineer by qualification. He is having the experience of 35 years, serving as Scientist with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Team-Leader for Standardisation, Certification and Testing activities. His main domain expertise includes his professional technical qualification as lead auditor for ISO 9001, 14001, 22001, 27001 and 45001. He has audited 63 numbers of units for compliance to ISO Management Systems; in addition he has expertise of product certification including validation of testing requirements of different products, for about 460 industrial units.

He has also served as member secretary of various technical committees of BIS, including water resources divisional councils, structural engineering sectional committees, and water supply management aspects. He has lead one of the most popular, BIS's hallmarking scheme, for IS:15820, integration of managerial and technical aspects in line with ISO:17025 :2017.

He has been member of UNFCCC, CDM accreditation team for competence verification of DOEs, Verifier for Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA), Verifier for CORSIA, for EU-MRV Regulations for GHG from Maritime, in addition to be a Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) from Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), has audited 3 organisations for their compliance to Energy Management Systems, ISO: 50001.

He hold the charge of Deputy Director General Eastern, wherein the BIS leadership role pertaining to 13 states, with 6 branches, particularly for quality goods and services, ensuring tested material is available, was undertaken.

Now, he has joined as a Team-IISD Member, in scaling up its project activities, especially related to Standardization and Carbon Accreditation.
