Dr. Sachidananda Satapathy

Dr. Sachidananda Satapathy is a Visiting Senior Research Fellow (Climate Policy & Research) at IISD, and brings over 40 years of Extensive Experience in Environment Management, Ozone Layer Protection, Climate Change Policy, Planning and Regulatory Measures, Project Development, Implementation, Monitoring, and Evaluation. Throughout his Career, Dr. Satapathy has worked with a Variety of Organizations, including the Central Pollution Control Board, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, UNDP, and Few National and State Governments, Industries, and Industry Associations. He has also Collaborated with Multilateral Agencies such as UNIDO, The World Bank, UNEP, and ADB, as well as Bilateral Organizations like GIZ, SDC, JAICA, and DFID.

Dr. Satapathy was awarded the Stratospheric Ozone Layer Protection Award by the USEPA in 2007. He has represented India at Several International Forums, including The Montreal Protocol, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), The Convention on Biological Diversity, and The Convention to Combat Desertification. He actively Participated in COP Negotiations, Contributing Significantly to India's Climate Change Discourse. As a Technical and Senior Adviser, Dr. Satapathy has been associated with organizations such as the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), IPE Global, the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), INRM Consulting, the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) in London, ICIMOD in Nepal, His work has included Developing Climate Action Plans at the State, District, and Panchayat levels, as well as Focusing on Climate Resilient Health Infrastructures. He has Published Numerous Reports and Papers on these Topics.

Dr. Satapathy was Elected as a Member representing India in the Consultative Group of Experts for non-Annex I countries for the Preparation of National Communications and Biennial Update Reports (UNFCCC, 2014-2017). He is also an Expert Member of the UNFCCC Roster. He has Served on the Steering Committee, like the National Innovations on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) with the Ministry of Agriculture, and as an Expert Member of the State Steering Committees on Climate Change for the Governments of Manipur and Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, he has been involved in Climate-resilient health facilities in India, with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Namami Gange Project of the Ministry of Water Resources, New Delhi.
