Dr. Narendra Mairpady is a Distinguished Research Fellow (ESG & Risk Finance) and Director, Center for Sustainable Finance (CSF), Indian Institute of Sustainable Development (IISD), Mumbai; Who is Steering IISD Mumbai’s Centre, Working with a Commitments in Climate Taxonomy, ESG and Climate Risk Mapping and Other Sub-Thematic Areas of Sustainable Finance. He is a Renowned Banker and Corporate Leader, having a Career Spanning Over 4 Decades of Impactful Leadership in the Indian Financial Sector. He began his academic Journey with a Commerce Degree from Govinda Dasa College, Mysore University in 1974,and a Bachelor of Law (LLB), SDM Law College, Mangalore, where he Ranked 3^rd in the University. His Pursuit of Academic Excellence Continued, with Professional Banking Credentials, Becoming a Certified Associate, Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB). In Recognition of his Contributions to Banking Sector Leadership, he was Conferred with honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) Degrees.

Dr. Mairpady Served the Corporation Bank, Where he became Chief General Manager by 2008. He was also Part of the Exclusive “Chairman’s Club” for 18 years, an acknowledgment of his Consistent Performance and Leadership within the Bank. He was the Executive Director of Bank of India, Where he Led a Significant Restructuring initiative, aimed at Strengthening Credit Appraisal and Business Segmentation. His strategic focus on Internal Credit Rating Mechanisms and Organizational Reforms marked a transformative Period of the Bank, aligning it with Modern Risk Management Practices and Customer Centric Banking.

Dr. Mairpady assumed the role of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) from November 1, 2010 till July 31, 2014. Under his Stewardship, IOB witnessed a Period of Strong Growth and Innovation. IOB, under his leadership, Won The National Award for Excellence in Micro and Small Enterprises Category Lending for 2 Consecutive Years, Further cementing his Reputation as a Champion of Financial Inclusion.

After his Retirement from IOB, Dr. Mairpady Continued to Contribute to the Corporate World through Several Board Memberships and Leadership Roles. He has Served as an Independent and Non-Executive Director on the Boards of IPCA Laboratories Ltd, Man Industries (India) Ltd and Mahindra Rural Housing Finance Ltd, among Others. He also held the Position of Independent Non-Executive Chairman at Equip Social Impact Technologies Ltd and Previously Served On the Board of Adani Enterprises Ltd In addition, he has been associated, with Organizations like SICOM Ltd and Viswaat Chemicals, contributing his expertise in Governance and Strategic Planning. He is the Chairman, IMC Banking NBFC and Finance Committee for the Last three Years.

Dr. Mairpady’s influence extends beyond Corporate Boardrooms. He Served as Chairman of the Banking & Finance National Council of ASSOCHAM and was a Member of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)’s Technical Advisory Committee for Money, Forex, and Government Securities Markets. He has also been Part of Various Committees of the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA), Shaping Policy and Governance in the Banking Sector.

Over the Course of his illustrious Career, he has received Numerous Awards, including the Skoch Award for Excellence in Banking, the Lokmat BFSI Award for Financial Inclusion and the IBA Banking Technology Award for Best Use of Business Intelligence.
